Nicholas

Behaviour Support Practitioner/ PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

MProPsych, BSc(Psych Hons)

Nicholas has experience providing evidence-based support to adolescents with mood, anxiety, and neurodevelopmental challenges. During his time as a school counsellor, Nicholas has worked alongside veteran practitioners to improve the lives of many diverse and complex clients. This was a very enlightening experience for Nicholas, and it has since enflamed in him a burning passion for helping vulnerable people fulfill their life goals. He now intends to use lessons learnt from past mentors, academic connections and seasoned colleagues to enhance his professional practice at BLS.

As a person, Nicholas sees himself as an unwavering yet compassionate advocate for his client’s rights and needs. His participation in various volunteer opportunities demonstrate his commitment to this cause as highlighted by his past NSW Volunteer of the Year nominations. Nicholas particularly enjoys working along younger people with complex presentations, though remains thrilled to work with versatile populations because he is eager to grow as a practitioner. Currently his research focus is on the wellbeing experiences of First Nations people. However, he has been fascinated by the attachment theory works of Bowlby and Ainsworth, learning theories of Bandura and seeks to embrace the contemporary ‘positive psychology’ work of the Martin Seligman.

Overall, as a professional, Nicholas aspires to be the best and most personable practitioner he can be. He strongly believes that the client’s voice is the most important in the room and is willing to work with stakeholders to ensure that this voice is respected and appreciated. The client and their stakeholders are first in his opinion, and Nicholas is more than happy to serve their needs where possible.
